As of today, there are 130 days left until:  Christmas, Wednesday, December 25, 2019! 

Social activities for Christmas begin in earnest 30-90 days out! In other words, the first day of Thanksgiving if not before!  

Why wait until the last minute to get what you want, or need? You can easily save 20%-50% while the Dog Days of Summer are raging! Yes, it has been 'a hot one!' And, it's still hot. Relief will come for us here in the Sandhills of North Carolina sooner or later. Probably later.   

Look for animal prints in attire or accessories to wear this holiday season. Make that leopard, snakeskin, or zebra prints! The choice is yours. If you are adventurous, combine one or two if not three of the prints together. Check and double-check the mirror before going on the other side of the door. You could look spectacular, or you could look peculiar. Just saying.   

My favorite print is zebra. There's something about black + white with a pop of color! It takes me anywhere! 

Nearly all designers; not to mention stores, have some [if not plenty] of the prints this fall. And they can be found at all price points. How cool is that? Look for them. Experiment with them. Wear them.

Charcoal this, charcoal that

I can't believe I had not tried a charcoal product until last month! 

I have enlarged pores. Don't look too closely! Nothing seemed to reduce them, other than a 5-step nightly cleansing regimen. Not! At least not anymore.

I wanted to try something different. Something easy. Something effective. I narrowed the tries down to:  1)  African Black Soap,  and  2)  a charcoal scrub or mask.

I tried one African Black Soap. It was tan, and smooth. Some African Black Soaps are much deeper in color, and not as smooth looking. I wasn't crazy about this one. I could have kept looking and trying, but how many would I have had to purchase to find a satisfactory one? Next item on the list!

I happened into a dollar store one day, and there sat FREEMAN beauty DETOXIFYING charcoal + black sugar MUD MASK on a shelf. It had charcoal and black sugar in it. I am a fan of sugar scrubs, especially the ones I make! I had to try it.

"The charcoal + black sugar MUD MASK" is cleansing, and moisturizing. It is not too drying. Neither does it leave product; per se, sitting on the skin. Especially here in this hot, humid Sandhills weather! I can leave it on for 20 minutes, or I can leave it on for most of the night. I wake up with smoother, more radiant skin. I did pay more than $6.00 for my tube. I saw it online for $3.99! I shouldn't complain. I'm not even half way through it.

I want to try other charcoal products now. Elle recommended some as did Fashionista, and Martha Stewart. Some are definitely more pricey than others. I'm fascinated by the Fourth Ray Beauty After Hours Detox Face Oil. Who knew there was such a thing as a detox oil? We all do. Now.

I think I will revisit African Black Soap at a later date. African Black Soap and a charcoal product could be just the combination needed.

Body foundation

Hello!

I have put bronzer, and shimmer on the body before. Who hasn't? You know. The face, the arms, the legs. Sometimes the occasion calls for it. I would not trade the Scott Barns' Body Bling glow for anything. It is good!

I have not put body foundation on yet, but I would be willing to try the KKW Beauty Skin Perfecting Body Foundation. Kim Kardashian West, are you listening out there? The summer sun brings out the desire to touch up the skin in all of us. It can get uneven, with the best of efforts. And if you haven't seen the sun so far this year? Although I can't imagine it, you could probably use it more than the lot of us. Just saying!

It is way too hot for pantyhose. It has been here in the Sandhills region of North Carolina since early May. Even if it had not been, pantyhose are more irritant than attribute. I can not begin to tell you how many pairs I have ruined before they got past the ankles! I will go bare legged in 20-degree weather even, if I must! Well, I reckon I must!

Have fun in the sun whether you use shimmer, bronze or foundation this summer!

A real good scrub

Hello!

If you know anything about me, you know that I like a good body scrub, and I think I have come up with one of the best. It is quite simple, really. I take equal amounts of sugar + salt, and add it to grits. I add it to the same amount of grits some of the time, but less at others. Little to no "rubbing it in," and you have nicely smooth skin for pennies on the dollar! Add essentials oils to it for a yum, yum, yummy smell!

A Kate Spade store opened at the Carolina Premium Outlets a few days ago! The word is, a Michael Kors store may open too! Bring it on!

There are 22 more days left until the first day of summer, Friday, June 21, 2019! Who would have thunk? It felt like summer days ago in this record breaking heat! Oh me, oh my.

It's my birthday month, and I want seersucker!

Hello!

Oopsy daisy! It's been a while! I do apologize! No, I haven't been on an extended vacation. It is a bit of a long story; but, one day I will tell - almost all! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! But; I must admit, I had not blogged in so long it took nearly seven days for me to remember my password! Good grief! I know, right? Anyhow...

And do you know what else took a while? Figuring out how to shave under my arms! Gosh, darn! Instead of going up and down, or down and up, go sideways! It takes less of a swipe! Call it easier on the skin, if you will. Just saying...

Do you know what I am craving? No, it is not chocolate! That was yesterday! Today, it's seersucker! What a fabric for this early hot, humid Sandhills weather! I do declare! Put in on sale; already, will 'ya?

I'm into pearls, too! For a real humdinger of a pearl necklace, the seemingly endless 80" pearls are all of that and a bag of chips! I am telling you!

The month is quickly coming to close! I'd better make my move on that seersucker, and the pearls pretty soon! I consider it 'early Christmas gifts!' Speaking of which, there are 217 days left until Christmas, Wednesday, December 25, 2019! Mark that on your calendar!

A blanket is a coat too

Hello!

Well, it goes something like this!

It was cold yesterday. For us here in the Sandhills, anyways. So I wore "a pink bubble jacket," with a zip on/off hoodie. In other words, a down jacket, or a puffer jacket. It was; needless to say, pretty warm. I even started sweating, but I didn't dare take it off.

This southern born and bred gal likes cold weather, but also likes to stay warm - without the bulkiness that that usually entails. It is still cold outside today, but I could not even begin to think about wearing the "pink bubble jacket" again. Maybe another day! I tried on various silk, denim and wool jackets. Nothing was quite doing it for me.

Off to the bed I go from the wardrobe; be that as it may, thinking. Then it hit me! There on my bed was "an orange crush" blanket for one! It was perfect for my tan wool fedora with a floral brooch, deep green long sleeve velvet blouse, gray corduroy slacks, and navy flats! It popped, as we like to say in the fashion industry! And, it is fun to wear too. Call it something different from the usual, if you will.

The blanket for one can be wrapped at least two (2) different ways! There are more I know, but I didn't have the time to experiment this A.M. It can be folded into a triangle; for one, and laid across the back with the narrow ends facing forward. Tie, if you would like. It can also be folded in half, and tucked over a shoulder or under one or both arms. Pin together with a brooch (or a clothes pin - ha, ha, ha), if you would like. I opted for the latter. It was quite easy, really.

Duh, you are probably saying! People do it all the time! I don't, but it sure is fun!
