Colorful tights, please

Colorful tights, pantyhose, and socks are baaaaack! They have been easing their way back into our consciousness for about there years now.

Remember when we wore them? I wore them to work during the mid 1980's to the early 1990's. I adored them then, and I adore them now! I couldn't wait until Belk had a Hanes sale. I couldn't get there fast enough! I would pick up royal blue most of the time. The red would sell out quickly. I wonder why.

I liked matching the pantyhose color to the shoe for maximum impact (with knee length shorts, and  skirts). I liked matching the pantyhose color to the hem of the knee length shorts and skirts, for maximum impact too. A lot depended on what colors I could find.  Either way, I felt taller than my 5'6 frame! What fun!

I don't wear tights, pantyhose, or socks nearly as much as I used to anymore. I have gotten so used  to not wearing them. Who hasn't? Besides, the bare, natural skin tone + the same color shoe phenomenon can NOT be beat! The next best thing? The bare, natural skin tone + any color shoe!  Just don't forget to use a good body scrub regularly.

I did something this morning that I had never thought of doing before. I took an old towel, cut it, and placed it into my sneakers. Presto! A shoe liner that I can live with.

The only handbag you need is the one on your arm

Got bags?

Today is National Handbag Day!

I get a kick out of reading articles on how many handbags a lady need. The truth be told, you only need one, the one on your arm! 

My first nice handbag was a medium sized Etienne Aigner black patent leather, quilted saddle bag that I found at a store in Roanoke, VA more than 20 years ago. It has a single long, leather strap and I still have it to this day. I pull it out occasionally. A thumbs up purchase!

Another nice handbag that I have is a small black suede rectangular purse. It has a long black cord as a strap, and a single crystal ornament as a clasp. It really is quite lovely, and my special occasion bag. I would have to pull it out and look at the tag to tell you what the brand is, but I do recall it being reasonably priced. I got it when I moonlighted in retail for an exclusive ladies' fashion store on holidays and weekends for ten (10) years running!!! [Yeah, quite the record huh?] Another thumbs up purchase!

I was given a medium sized Coach inky blue, double strap (with a couple of buckles on each side) leather handbag as a gift about five (5) years ago. I've really enjoyed it. I see myself using it for many more years to come. I can easily wear it with a lot of different things. It has silver hardware which is my go to metallic.

I mostly use tote bags on a daily basis for utilitarian purposes. Carry a briefcase, a handbag, and a lunch bag to and fro every day? Not happening! It is all I can do to get everything in the tote bag, as it is! No particular brand needed, either. Even better.

You guessed it! I do not have or use a lot of handbags. It's just as well. I'd much rather have more shoes! I know, right?

I do have a handbag want on my bucket list, and that is a Chanel! Well; pardon me, who doesn't? The challenge for me will be in deciding which one. I will worry about that when the time comes.

Yes, we have got bags!

Pumpkin, pumpkin on the wall

National Pumpkin Day may be October 26th, but pumpkin products began showing up on the shelves before Labor Day!

Unless it's edible or something I can smell good in, I would like to have a couple of the MacKenzie-Childs pumpkins. The Black & White pumpkins are elegant; dare I say, and can be used year after year after year. Pair them with other colors; and voila, you have a bonafide scene stealer.

And do I ever enjoy Philosophy products. The only thing I have been able to find even remotely related to a pumpkin is the Apple Cider shampoo, shower gel, and bubble bath. And it's not pumpkin at all really, but it will have to do up un-til!

There are always pumpkin spices, coffee, and candles available this time of the year. No need to drone on about it here. And then there is pumpkin peanut butter, popcorn, candy, nuts, and oatmeal. But the most interesting thing of them all is the pumpkin Spam. Hey, I'm willing to try it if you are! It might be good! We will have to compare notes.

You can do one or the other, with subscription rental services.

O.K. Go ahead and blame the current subscription rental service craze on Bag Borrow Or Steal. They began to offer borrowing, buying, or selling handbags, shoes, and accessories in 2006. But Rent The Runway began to offer renting jewelry, clothing, and accessories+ in 2009. The Trunk Club began something similar as well in 2009, as did Stitch Fix in 2011. Fast forward to today. Other retailers are already offering the same type of services, or are planning to.

If you are a connoisseur of clothing or anything else for that matter, subscription services allow you to try before you buy if nothing else. More importantly, it allows you to use only what you need or want.

Shop for holiday wear now!

Hello!

As of today, there are 130 days left until:  Christmas, Wednesday, December 25, 2019! 

Social activities for Christmas begin in earnest 30-90 days out! In other words, the first day of Thanksgiving if not before!  

Why wait until the last minute to get what you want, or need? You can easily save 20%-50% while the Dog Days of Summer are raging! Yes, it has been 'a hot one!' And, it's still hot. Relief will come for us here in the Sandhills of North Carolina sooner or later. Probably later.   

Look for animal prints in attire or accessories to wear this holiday season. Make that leopard, snakeskin, or zebra prints! The choice is yours. If you are adventurous, combine one or two if not three of the prints together. Check and double-check the mirror before going on the other side of the door. You could look spectacular, or you could look peculiar. Just saying.   

My favorite print is zebra. There's something about black + white with a pop of color! It takes me anywhere! 

Nearly all designers; not to mention stores, have some [if not plenty] of the prints this fall. And they can be found at all price points. How cool is that? Look for them. Experiment with them. Wear them.
